Bigblock is a project I worked on with Mariela Puente and Angela Saldívar during my exchange semester in Mexico. Our challenge was to create a food packaging concept that celebrated Paula Scher’s bold and vibrant design style. You might wonder, what’s the connection between Paula Scher and chocolate? Well, both Scher and Hershey’s Chocolate have ties to Pennsylvania, where Scher studied and Hershey’s started. This shared history inspired us to design a packaging concept for chocolate that pays tribute to Scher’s dynamic style. We drew inspiration from Scher’s creative use of typography and color to craft packaging that not only grabs attention on the shelf but also reflects the rich, indulgent nature of the chocolate inside. The result is Bigblock – a design that combines eye-catching typography with vivid colors to make a delicious statement.
