Introducing "The Thing": Redefining At-Home STD Testing

For my project "The Thing," I was tasked with creating a branding, landing page, and packaging design for an at-home STD testing kit. My goal was to make STD testing not just more appealing but also to emphasize its importance in a fun and engaging way. I developed a vibrant brand identity with playful characters to turn the often-taboo topic of STD testing into something more approachable and less intimidating. Each character represents a different STD – Chlamydia, Syphilis, and Gonorrhea – adding a relatable and educational twist to the design. By giving each STD a distinct personality, I aimed to make the experience both informative and less stressful for users.

Learnings

Working on "the thing" was an eye-opening experience that gave me the chance to dive deep into the world of STD testing. Finding the right balance between addressing a serious social taboo and presenting it in a bright, engaging way was both challenging and rewarding. I used a mix of media – posters, social media, and landing pages – to create a unified and captivating design. It was also my first time animating characters, which added a whole new level of fun to the project. If you’re curious, you can check out the mini animations on my Behance profile!
